in High Places
A Web-Journal about Rob's Alpine Adventures
In 1997, I made a decision to explore the high places of the Earth. With this travel journal, I want to share the rich rewards of my experience with friends, family and readers.
There is no practical reason to climb a mountain, no material benefit to be gained. On the contrary, climbing is an expensive endeavor, costly in cash, time, and exposure to risk. The austere majesty of the mountains, their beauty and their challenge, makes mountaineering a worthy intellectual and physical pursuit for me. The intangible rewards of mountaineering are profound, and began the moment I made my decision to climb a mountain.
I invite you to read on, and share the rewarding experience of the mountains.
